Hi!

First of all we would just like to thank you so much for considering adoption and taking the time to get to know us a little.  We are sure this decision was a difficult one for you and because of the love you have for your child, he or she will be able grow up in a stable, loving, happy home growing and experiencing new and wonderful things.

Our names are Tracy and Bob Shorter and we would love to expand our family by one more.  We tried for quite sometime to conceive a child on our own and also tried several fertility treatments without any success.  Eventho each time we found out that the treatment didn't work it was hard, we now can look back and know that God does work in wondrous ways.  IF any of those treatments HAD worked, we would never have been blessed with our son, Zachary, who we adopted almost two years ago.  Sometimes God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.
Bob recently decided to follow another one of his dreams by opening a sports bar & grill.  He has been involved in the golf club and restaurant business for about 20 years and has always wanted to own his own restaurant.  Eventho it will be a lot of work, it will also give us some additional flexibility with our time and family.
appointments for them, whether it is doctor appointments, staff meetings, or any other kind of event they may have.  I have been interpreting for 16 years now and love every minute of it.  We are very lucky in our jobs and can be very flexible with our time.  I am self employed which allows me to make my own schedule and take time off whenever I choose.  It will also allow me to be at home with a new baby.
We really enjoy spending time with our friends and family.  Bob and I think that family is very important and spend as much time with them as possible. We are lucky in that our family is very supportive of our decision to adopt and have loved every minute of watching Zachary grow up and has welcomed him into our extended family with open
We also love to travel and have had fun watching what we enjoy to do through Zachary's eyes.  We have been to San Francisco, Boston, New Hampshire, Arizona and Mexico. Recently we bought an RV and have enjoyed dropping everything at the last minute for a nice weekend camping get-away with all of us and our 2 dogs.  We've gone on many camping trips with Zachary and he loves to play outside, look at the birds and trees and going for walks in the woods or on the beach with us.
We are thrilled to share our lives with our son and watch him grow and we know we have more love to give another child.  We know that it is important to expose them to many different experiences so they can be successful in life no matter what they decide to do.
When we do have time just to relax and have fun we love spending time going camping, fishing, going to football games, reading, playing cards, going out to dinner and just spending time with friends and family.  We also like to go out on day trips whether it is to take a ride in the country or drive to San Diego to go to the zoo. We love just spending time together as a family no matter what it might be.

Best Wishes,

Tracy, Bob and Zachary
Bob and I met each other while I was out on a vacation from Boston and spent time getting to know each other after I went back  home through emails and phone calls.  A bit later we decided the right thing to do was for me to move out here and get started on a new life together.
Now that Zachary has come into our lives he is involved in everything we do.  We believe that children are folded into our life.  Our lives didn't just stop because we have a child, it is enhanced and richer because of him.  Whether it is running to the store, going out to dinner with friends, camping or traveling, we think its important that we continue being active and doing different things and        to be exposed to many experiences..

I can't express the joy he has brought into our family.  We love to watch him learn and explore his world.  He cracks us up with the things he says and does these days and I'm sure its just the beginning of more wonderful things to come.  He is a very happy baby and always has a smile on his face.  We are having so much fun with him and can't wait to bring home a sibling for him.
I grew up as an only child while Bob grew up with 2 sisters.  I always wished I had a brother or sister while I was growing up and even today wish I had one.  There is a special bond that siblings have and we want that for Zachary.  Our hope is to adopt a brother or sister for Zach so they can grow up together and be able to share that special bond when they get older.
I'm a Sign Language Interpreter where I work with Deaf people and interpret different
including our children in them so they get
arms.  Our parents always made it a point for us to know we were loved and that it was important to share that love with others.  We were taught that compassion, manners and thoughtfulness were all important traits to have as well as respect for others.  We are so lucky to have a great group of friends.  They are a huge part of our lives and we love to get together for dinners, bbq's or just hang out.
